Year 3

Welcome to Miss Goodwin's Class 2023-24

Autumn Term

Our Topic for the Summer term is the Stone Age. Lots of our learning will be driven through this theme. In English, we will be looking at a book called 'The Stone Age Boy' and in reading we will be looking at 'Stig of the dump'. In History, we will look at the stone age and how it develops and differs from the Bronze Age and the Iron Age. In Art, we will be making stone age inspired art such as creating a stone age fire. Our Geography topic is based on recapping the information surrounding the UK and how it is linked to Skara Brae.

Long Term Plan 2023-2024

Important Information

PE is on a Monday and a Thursday. Children will need to come into school in their PE kits on these days. Long hair must be tied up and any earrings removed.

Children will bring home a reading book each week. This will be changed on a specific day so they must have it in school with them on this day. This will be the same day as they had in Year 2.

They need a water bottle every day.

They need indoor shoes to wear whilst inside the classroom, to protect the carpets and to allow them to keep their feet dry.

Please label all uniform as we get quite a pile of lost jumpers by the end of each term!

Homework

Homework will be assigned on a Monday with a deadline for the following Monday.

Spelling- A spelling list will be set on Spelling Shed each week, and the children will be able to login into the website and complete activities linked to these words.

Reading- Children will be expected to read regularly at home. This does not always have to be a book from school. Please sign their reading records to show how often they read.

Maths- Work will be set on Mathletics every week. Children will also be expected to use TT Rockstars as often as possible.

Learning Logs- A special half termly project linked to the current topic will be assigned. Children will have a choice in how they complete the project and will have the whole half term to do so.
