Computing

Our Computing curriculum is designed to ensure pupils are equipped to use information technology to create programs, systems, and a wide range of content. We aim to develop digital literacy, enabling pupils to use technology safely, express themselves confidently, and develop ideas through information and communication technology—at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active, responsible participants in a digital world.

The curriculum was devised using Purple Mash and Teach Computing with Kapow Primary used to support the delivery of online safety lessons for all year groups.

The curriculum is structured to ensure that all pupils:

  • Understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science, including abstraction, logic, algorithms, and data representation.
  • Analyse problems in computational terms and gain repeated practical experience in writing computer programs to solve such problems.
  • Evaluate and apply information technology, including new or unfamiliar technologies, to solve problems analytically.
  • Become responsible, competent, confident, and creative users of information and communication technology.

By providing these essential skills, we prepare pupils to thrive in an increasingly digital society—ready to innovate, collaborate, and succeed.
