Armley Mills Visit: Our Victorian Day was a great success. We learnt all about school life for Victorian children and working in a factory.

Some of our amazing space themed homework.

We performed so well during our class assembly.

Today we learnt how to use a compass to find direction. We then used these skills to draw a mystery letter.

Louise Hannon lead a workshop all about life for children 50 years ago. We dressed up, sorted out food from 'then' and 'now', looked at a book all about wrinkles and learnt a great deal. We have written postcards about ourselves to send to a local care home. We hope to have a reply soon.

We love Friday's drumming lesson! Avtar is an amazing teacher and we are learning so much.

The second part of our science lesson looked at the five main types of vertebrates. We collected the definitions and headings in a Burn 2 Learn activity then matched them up. Then we compared two different types using a Venn diagram.

As part of our science topic we have been collecting seeds and discussing how they are dispersed. We found a great variety in our nature conservation area.

September

Today's science recapped our work on flowering plants. We drew and labelled a flower outside on the patio, showing a good recall of the key structures of a flower.

We have been working  hard to code our Scratch animations. Today we changed our sprites costumes and made them move across the screen.

In science we dissected three flowers and labelled each part, we also talked about the function of each part of the flower.

History: We tried to order key events in history in chronological order. There was lots of discussion and some really interesting ideas!

Today's history lesson looked at some of the key events in the reign of Queen Victoria. Ask your children what they can remember from their timelines.

Today we took a trip into Adel Wood where we were joined by the Leeds Rangers for some seed inspired games and identifying and collection of seeds. We were not very successful in our acorn gathering (as we couldn't find many) but still had a wonderful time.

Scooter training was great fun, despite the rain. Even the teachers joined in!
