Spring Week (30.1.17)
Today we were very lucky to be involved in a dance workshop. We used our bodies creatively to recreate a caterpillar changing into a butterfly. Â
Welcome back to school!
This half term our topic is Hot and Cold.Â
Please read our parent information booklet to find out more about what the children will be learning.
Autumn 2
This half term, our topic is 'London'.Â
In Literacy we will be writing a poem called' Walking Around London' which is will follow the same pattern, rhythm and rhyme as 'Walking Through the Jungle'. Â We will also be imagining we are a known character from a story who has visited London and write a diary in role. Finally we will be writing lots of facts about London to share our knowledge. Children are already enthusiastic to talk about their experiences in London.
In Numeracy, we are continuing to develop our skills around adding and subtracting, doubling and halving and also finding the time to o'clock and half past.
In History we will be learning about the Gun powder plot linked to Bonfire Night and also talk about how we can keep ourselves safe. Safety is our PSHE theme.
In Science, we will be exploring materials we see everyday, naming and sorting ones with similar properties. We compare the materials we have in our home with those at Buckingham Palace!
In Geography, we will be developing our map skills and locating places such as Leeds and London.
In RE our theme is 'Why do we care about people' and we will be discussing who and what we care for and how we might show them that we care.Â

We measured our feet with help from our partners and worked together to find out how tall we were. We measured ourselves using bands, multi-link and glue sticks.
We found out that in our class the tallest people don't always have the biggest feet!
