Year 1

Welcome to Year 1

Who works in Year 1

Spring 1

This half term our theme is Earth and Beyond and we will be learning about Tim Peake, his experiences and what he could see from the ISS. Our Writing will also be linked to Space as we look at 'Man on the Moon' by Simon Bartram. We will continue to learn about materials through Science investigations. Our Class Newsletter gives more detail about this term's learning.

Your children will bring home a reading book appropriate to their Phonics level. This is to practice their decoding skills but we would encourage they read or are read to daily. This will broaden their vocabulary and enrich their experiences. They can read anything from comics to a bedtime story.

Important Information-

PE Days are Monday and Wednesday. The children will need to come into school in their PE kits on those days.

Children should make sure that they bring a water bottle in every day.

Homework will consist of Spelling, Maths and Reading. Any set work will be given out on a Monday and returned on a Monday

Spelling- 5 words that are linked to the sounds and words we are learning in class.

Maths- Regularly logging into Numbots to work through story mode. Mathletics work will also be assigned sometimes but parents will be informed of this at the time.

Reading- Daily reading to be recorded in the children's reading logs.
