Welcome to Reception!

We are very excited to welcome our new children into the class and cannot wait for the new year to begin!

Meet the Team

Home Learning

If you are having to self-isolate or work from home for any reason, use these resources for the first few days. The class teacher will then be in touch regarding subsequent days' work.

Many thanks.

Our topic for Summer Two is....

Once Upon a Time!

We will be looking at some of the traditional fairytales such as Jack and the Beanstalk, The Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks and The Three Bears along with many others. We will look at alternative versions of the traditional tales and explore the differences between the past and present through traditional tales.

We will design and build castles for our knights to live in. Create houses using lots of different materials that we might find in the Nature Conservation Area, and plant our very own beanstalk!

Summer 1 - Animal Magic!

We have been very busy this half term settling back into school following the school closure. We have been extremely proud of how well the reception children have settled back into the school routines.

We have enjoyed exploring all things animal! We based our learning around a number of books; The Little Red Hen, What the Ladybird Heard, Cave Baby, Harry and the Dinosaurs, Commotion in the ocean and We're going on a Bearhunt

We have made our own bread, made maps to explore our outdoor area, explored animals that are now extinct, found out about how plastic pollution can affect animals in the ocean and re-told the Bear Hunt story by creating our own bear hunt outdoors. What busy bees we have been!

Summer 1

Autumn 2 - Celebrations!

We have been very busy this half term!

We found out about celebrations and special times in our own lives and those of others. We have learnt all about birthdays, weddings, Diwali and Christmas!

We even had a birthday party for Mrs Cordingley!

Not forgetting our FANTASTIC Christmas celebrations! We had a great festive fun day where we wore our christmas jumpers, had christmas dinner and played lots of christmas games!

We have also been learning all about shapes and numbers up to 5. We have been amazing during our class assemblies with the rest of the school. We had World Nursery Rhyme Week where we explored our favourite nursery rhymes. We have been busy practising our reading and writing. We now do 'squiggle while you wiggle' and 'dough disco' every day to help with our fine motor skills!

We have had LOTS of fun this term!

Autumn 1 - Marvellous Me!

The children have settled in beautifully! We have been very busy this half term!

We have been to the conservation area on a listening walk, had our first PE lesson, enjoyed some time on the computers for our ICT lesson, made yellow crowns for our #helloyellow day, made our own fruit kebabs, decorated pumpkins and LOTS more!

We have had so much FUN settling in and making lots of new friends!

Autumn 1

Magnificent Maths! We have been learning about shapes, numbers, patterns, counting, comparing, sorting and lots more!

Writing! We have been busy practising our mark-making and writing skills.
