We shall enjoy exploring our school and discovering the wonders of the natural world, whether it's minibeasts in the garden or the Gruffalo in the deep dark wood.
Thank you to all the parents who came to our Spanish Celebration.
We prepared a delicious feast ... tapas style, sang Spanish songs and did flamenco dancing.
Viva Espana!
We had a great time looking for Gruffalo in the deep, dark wood ... in the pouring rain!
We had an amazing time at Harlow Carr Gardens!
We made perfume using herbs and a magic potion for Onion the Puppet.
We also made crowns using treasure we collected in the forest.
To round off our exciting day we had a lot of fun exploring the super duper play areas.
Goodbye butterflies!
We loved watching our baby caterpillars grow into beautiful butterflies.

Bibberty Bobberty!

Artists at work!
There was great excitement and trepidation this week as we discovered two
crime scenes in Nursery.
We helped to identify the culprits by looking for clues.
HUMPTY CRIME SCENE! Through our super detective work we discovered that a pirate had pushed Humpty off the wall.
PORRIDGEGATE! Who broke the chair? Who spilt the porridge? Who returned every day to cause mayhem? We used our detective skills to solve the crime. Can you guess who it was?
Fire fighters to the rescue! It was all hands on deck.
Explorers
Dora the Explorer and her friend Diego took us on some amazing adventures around the world, both real and imagined.
We went on a Space adventure and had an alien party. It was such fun!
Yes we can! Not only did we repair our bin to make it strong we gave it a make over. Now we have a smart alien bin called Blip Blip.
We also had a go at recycling paper . . . from our bin.
We loved our pirate adventure!
We enjoyed finding out about the Chinese New Year!
We all had a fabulous time on our trip to see Father Christmas at Abbey House Museum.
We saw Father Christmas and his Elves in the Grotto.
FC was exceedingly nice and friendly. He gave all the children a little gift and told them that if they were very good he would give them another one ... on Christmas Day.
Let's hope their wishes come true!
We also made made Xmas tree hats and explored the museum. We saw Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, children sleeping in the old woman's shoe and Queen Victoria in the pub.
And lots more!
A good time was had by everyone and Mrs HP was very proud of the Nursery children
and their excellent behaviour.
'Happy Diwali' to all our families that celebrate Diwali, the Hindu and Sikh Festival of Light.
Happy Birthday Honey Bear
We did lots of active learning today with our special visitor Alex Ogden from Burn 2 Learn.
Science Day
We loved being scientists!!
We had lots of challenges to do.
We put on our thinking hats as we experimented, put forward ideas and solved problems.
Here are some of them!
Just watch our scientists as they make a discovery!
Autumn Celebration
A really big thank you to everyone who attended our Autumn Celebration. We had a fantastic time as there were so many exciting things to make ... scarecrows, Autumn wreaths, magical Autumn wands and pumpkin faces.
We rounded off the event with a song and hot (well not so hot!) chocolate.
Autumn Walk
We had a great time on our Autumn walk.
We used our senses to explore and find Autumn treasures.
We also chanted, we're going on a bear hunt.
We went swishy, swashy through the grass, squelch, squerch through the mud and stumble trip through the forest.
then we heard growling ....
Wow you will not believe what we found.
A big thank you to all the Mums who were able to join us for school lunch. I think they were very impressed with the delicious food dishes on offer.
Kite flying! We made our own kites and ran fast so they would fly.
We are here to help!

Useful information supporting teaching and learning
The characteristics of effective learning are a key element in the Early Year’s Foundation Stage. They detail the ways in which children learn from their environment, experiences and activities.
They are split into three main areas. These are:
‘Playing and exploring’ which shows how the child is engaging; ‘actively learning’which shows the motivation behind the child’s learning; and ‘creating and thinking critically’ which shows the thought processes behind learning and new achievements.
A useful video clip showing the correct 'pure' pronounciation of phonemes (units of sound).
JOLLY SONGS A-Z Alphabet Song
We love these Jolly Phonics songs to help us hear the initial sounds in words. For each song there is an action to help us remember the letter and its sound.
