Welcome to Adel Nursery!

A warm welcome to Nursery!

During this half term we will work on the theme of ‘Things that Grow’. This will include looking at mini beasts, plants and animals, and life cycles. We will work on a different area each week using our outdoor area as a classroom. We will also be welcoming tadpoles and caterpillars into the classroom, and are very excited to watch these grow and change!

We would really like to receive Tapestry observations of the children at home exploring things that grow. It could be an observation with the Broad bean they planted in school, or it could be them looking at tadpoles and thinking about the life cycle of a frog. We would really appreciate being able to see the children reflect the learning they do in the classroom at home too!

If anyone has any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate in speaking with us, we are here to help in whatever way possible.

Meet the Nursery Team!

We have had a super 'Healthy Week' in Nursery! We have been for walks, had fruit salads, taken part in a Zumba class and Rhinos take over day!

Goodbye Butterflies

Still image for this video
We took our butterflies outside today to be released and waved goodbye to them. We have enjoyed having the caterpillars in Nursery and watching them get bigger and bigger before finally making their cocoons. They hatched out at the end of last week and we were happy that two healthy butterflies could fly away.

Mini Beast Hunting. We talked about where the creatures like to hide, what they look like and what they eat. We found lots of worms, slugs, ants, spiders, centipedes and even a newt! We then made a mini beast hotel which we hope will encourage lots of guests to move into our garden area. Have you found any mini beasts at home in your garden?

Library Box! We would like to invite you to borrow a book from our Nursery ‘Library Box’. This is simply a box with a selection of books that the children can choose from. You can borrow the book for as long as you like before returning it to change it for another. We would love for you to send us a Tapestry observation of your child reading a book with you!

We really enjoyed our Stay and Play sessions looking at all the ways we learn about mathematics through play in Nursery. Thank you to everyone who could come!

Happy Chinese New Year! We have been really enjoying learning about Chinese New year in Nursery.

Have you seen our new reading area? The children love coming in and finding a story, playing with the puppets and masks and telling each other stories.

We have a 'Number of the Week' in the Nursery. This fun Power Point shows you the rhymes we use when forming our numbers in Nursery, have a go!

Yorkshire Week. We are celebrating Yorkshire week by having a 'Betty's' tea room in Nursery and making York Minster stained glassed windows inside. Outside we have been making cups of tea in the water tray and drawing what we see on our way to school.

Autumn! We are enjoying learning all about Autumn. We have been on our Autumn walk and collected leaves, acorns, pine cones and conkers as well as printed leaves using Autumnal colours. Thank you for all your contributions to our display in Nursery.
