Our topic this half-term is

The Great Outdoors

We shall enjoy being explorers making discoveries about nature and our surroundings: a mini-beast hunt, den building and sunny day challenges are a few of the activities that we have planned.  We are hoping too that the fairies and elves and Gruffalo will be visiting the Nature Conservation Area.

As it is Summertime we will want to find out about the seaside and talk about our trips out and about.  We will also be tending to our seedlings and hopefully harvesting lots of vegetables as part of the 'Let's get growing' project.

Our intrepid explorers made lots of discoveries on their minibeast hunt!

Back at base the children were buzzing as they filled in their bug hunt checklist!

The children were so excited when caterpillars arrived in our Nursery. They love to watch them move and grow, such proud parents!

Let's get growing! Week 1, preparing the soil and planting raddish and beetroot seeds.

Planting potatoes!

The children loved the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. They had to make their own beanstalks of course!

Our Nursery scientists were very curious and inquisitive when we created an aquarium for the fish. It was magical when we mixed the liquids together.

Another wow for our inquisitive scientists!

Can you make bubbles? Yes we can!

The children had a lot of fun making gloop. "It feels ... soft ... smooth ... creamy."

Yo Ho Ho! Pirate Week was such fun. We sailed the oceans looking for treasure. It was jolly hard work scrubbing the decks and keeping everything ship shape. Alas we had to walk the plank. Luckily we beat Captain Hook to the loot and celebrated with a party aboard the Jolly Roger.

Dora the Explorer and her friend Diego took us on lots of adventures to different lands. These included Antarctica, Dinosaur World, the Jungle, Pirate Island and Space. We enjoyed finding out about these different places.

Here are your lovely teachers!

If your family are having to self-isolate at home then you will find below some useful resources to support your child's learning.

The main thing for our young children is that they can be active and learning through play and exploring their interests, as well as spending time with you and other family members chatting and engaging in fun games and activities.
